“i know what i saw. i’ve been looking for you all day. i saw you… talking to a girl yesterday.” one that looked strikingly similar to her daughter, brown hair wouldn’t fool her. it wasn’t possible… her eyes must have been playing tricks on her, but she wouldn’t be able to rest until she knew for sure.  “i need to speak with her.”

“why?” one word. a simple question that was asked out of curiosity more than defensiveness. after-all, ky wanted to keep jess’ existence under wraps, but it wasn’t due to having her as a key asset. instead, it was due to the fact he cared for her. though, if it was genuine or otherwise… even he didn’t know.

“Doesn’t everyone?” Though Hell wouldn’t be on most people’s lists, he probably had an advantage finding it amusing for a time… a little less devastating on the psyche. “Maybe talk to a witch, if you think you can trust them. Surely they have some sort of selective amnesia spell up their sleeves.”

“ wouldn’t know. ” then again, he also didn’t care, “ witches are… unpredictable. demons might be bad, but they don’t break their deals. in my experience, most witches end up breaking their deals early on, and it’s a reason i avoid them. well, most of them at least.”

‘did you at least given them a paddle so they could try to get back to shore with their raft after figuring out that a blind thirst for vengeance never leads anywhere but trouble?’ the hunter should be thankful that they hadn’t met sudden death to learn that lesson, like most had. ‘i think a lot of hunters try to avoid demons overall… things can get so… messy with them. no offense.’

‘i made sure they would be out in the middle of nowhere for a while.’ he pointed out bluntly, ‘demons are… tricky. not to mention they don’t forgive or forget. it’s more they want to do what they want and nothing else.’ he gave a shrug, ‘either way? i agree. avoiding them at all cost is key.’

tohavelost:

“I’m sure. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that demons were once human too. They love to be blasé, pretend they have no emotions. But they do. Anger is just intensified.” At least, that’s the way that Ellen saw it. “I imagine they have more creative forms of punishment than are inflicted on prisoners of war.”

“demons are complicated.” he could have gone on; explained about why they were complicated, but instead, ky didn’t, “most forget what they were before. it’s easier that way. other’s, they were as bad in life, and being a demon was more suiting for them.” he could count on the number of hands of demons he met who knew they were human once. it was pretty low.

either way, a deep sigh escaped his lips, “their punishments are worse than the one’s they had during the second world war.” ky rubbed at his chin for a few moments, “you learn to torture and forget. that’s the point of it. god’s creations twisted and turned into monsters. except for me. i was a monster at birth.”

‘ guess we’ll have to see how well those attempts pan out. ’  jody didn’t plan on getting absolutely trashed, but enough to give her a few hours away from her problems. that’s all she really wanted.

‘ true enough.’ ky mused, ‘ i’m going for forgetting everything for a few hours, but anger might be easier.’ a slight grin pulled at his lips, ‘usually is when i’m hoping for something…easier to handle.’

‘ it is a hell of a lot easier most of the time… i can agree with that. but it’s nice to find somewhere that just feels… right. ’ the roadhouse had been the only place that he had found like that. even if it had made him stumble upon the supernatural side of things. he enjoyed hearing the stories and helping hunters out with their research, regardless.

‘i’ve never found a place that feels right. even when i think i have…. it doesn’t last that long.’ maybe he should have kept the words to himself, but in truth, it didn’t matter too much to him, ‘things get taken away, people move on, and your stuck in a hotel room with only room service to keep you company.’ he then paused for a moment, ‘and a tv if you’re lucky.’
