“then consider me… gazing from afar then.” a slight smirk spread across his lips. “unless, you consider that staring as well.”
“i was thinking some pizza, some drinks, and we’ll see where the night goes from there.” he flashed a slight grin at teddy. “ unless… you have something far more amusing in mind.”
“doubtful. people die all the time; the change may come suddenly, but eventually things go back to normal.” or a new normal at least. “humans die – the sooner you come to accept that… the better off you’ll be.”
now, that was the question wasn’t it? ky couldn’t exactly pin-point it at the moment, but he had an idea as to why. suppression of his tendencies was difficult – if he went too long, they started to show up again. he may not have been as strong as he claimed, but he was hoping to keep his hated , and anger in check for just another hour.
the only problem with that was he didn’t get the chance; he was already getting angry. white hot anger that wasn’t directed at teddy, but rather something else. something… he just couldn’t put a finger on at the moment. “— nothing.” a lie, he already wanted to rip their throat out just for asking, but he said he’d keep his cool… at least for a short while longer. “i’m fine… really.” another lie, but he doubted it mattered too much now.
“i just have a…. “ he let a deep sigh escape his lips. “it’s difficult to explain, but i’m fine. it will be fine.” or so he hoped at least…even if all evidence suggested otherwise.
however, he was about to say highly improbable. ky already hated that ‘everyone’ knew about them already. it was like his entire private life was broadcasted on both earth and hell. disgusting – there was a reason he avoided relationships at any cost and that reason was people interfering…. like they were doing right then.
“i just don’t like…” he adjusted his leather gloves as he spoke. “people… at all.”
“if we’re going based off my experience, we hardly ever get what we want.” the nephilim tried to be happy with what he had and honestly, he was relieved that he was still alive. still, he craved some sort of bond with someone. saving people through the fire department could only fill so much of the empty space he felt.
“most of the time people do.” if they had money or even influence it was easy, but even then there were complications. each action and an equal reaction, if one was to pull, another would push, and sometimes mistakes happened. “it just depends on how determined they are.”
the demon tried his damndest to hold back a laugh, but a shit-eating grin escaped anyway. man, the guy was in so deep he couldn’t tell which way was up. couldn’t blame him. wouldn’t be the first guy that jess had had an effect like that on. though, he was interested to see how well she had adapted. firecracker before, he could only imagine how much dying had molded her.
“grab a few lowlifes and torture them well into the night? not really lookin for the long haul master plan shit anymore. unless there’s really something good in it for me.”
“given the current situation of things… there is no master plan.” except ky’s own, but that wasn’t for today, or tomorrow even. the plan ky had would span quite a bit of time and eventually? well, he’d claim what was rightfully he… one way or another.
“besides, i’m thinking it will be a party; grab them, make them think it’s a great party, and then? well, you can assume the rest – even better if we have an audience.”
“i don’t think anyone can fully get over it.” repression was common, but it often lead to more problems further down the road. trying to be open about it, that was what the family had done. clarissa was probably the most vocal about it and she wished she could get her daughter to open up more, but she couldn’t blame her for chasing after someone, something to blame. kyle felt the opposite way and she was left somewhere in the middle. unsure of if her daughter’s death was truly an accident or not.
“it’s hard… when someone you love barely even got a chance to live.”
“not with that attitude.” the words were said with a slight smirk. a false since of sarcasm to make the situation seem less tense. he didn’t think it would work, but all the same… he didn’t think it mattered really. not to him at least. “i’ve gotten over it – whatever life could have been different… i no longer have that choice or that chance.”
“i would think it’d be endless joy – unless your kind can’t even experience such a thing.” then again ky knew next to nothing about angels or how they managed to feel things. “—–what’s it like anyways?”
it was such an interesting question wasn’t it? just how did he knew her name? oh, the answer was simple enough to state, but why answer so quickly? he might as well ‘drag’ his feet on this. “oh, i get around,” he mused out lowly. “is that a problem?”
