❝  A cockroach fighting a larger cockroach is still an insect doing battle with an insect. Both should be crushed underneath my boot.  ❞ A cruel taunt, intended to incite the rage of the wretched mongrel that stood before the god.

❝  There is no warrior in the pond scum dimension your ilk crawl out of that can match me. Tell me, mutt, how does it feel to be in the presence of your superior?  ❞

❝ Is it now? ❞  His lips pursed into a thin-line. ❝ In my experience, a stronger enemy – no matter where they’re from is still stronger. It doesn’t invalidate that fight – no matter how much of a pompous prat you may be, Asgardian, ❞ he said, as his arms slid behind his back, ❝ So, let me condise this down to way you’ll understand – there are many above me, but the only one I truly believe has any real sway over me is Mephisto. Not you or even my father, but him.❞

“not directly, of course. but there’s some sort of fate out there – and it is hard to understand it.” everyone had their time, but she found it hard to look at anyone’s time being so short. jessica’s hit closest to home because she was her daughter, but she had patients die young and kept up with the news. heaven may be a better place, but living out a life surrounded by people you cared about first would always be optimal.

“find her way? all she had to do was come home – we would be able to help her with whatever – there’s no moving on when you lose a child. not really. you try to, but their loss will always be there.”

he was about to spit out some half-assed comment about how he didn’t care. more importantly, ky was almost about to go into a lecture about how she didn’t know what she was talking about. it would have been all so easy in his mind, but instead he opted for a much easier response. one, that he knew he’d come to regret in the near future if things didn’t do perfectly.

“there’s no moving on when you lose anyone,” he said, sucking in a deep breath, and letting it out slowly. “the best thing you can do is just ignore it.” a pause. “i tried looking into my past – did so for years, but i found nothing. just more questions and no answers.”

one of us owes the other and since I just
got stiffed on a case, I’m saying it’s you.

“and you think i’m gonna buy you a drink?” he couldn’t help the smirk
that spread across his lips for a few moments. “cute. very cute.”

when he reacts so aggressively, a switch flips in jess that allows her to think more clearly rather than flip her lid and yell the first things that come to her mind which happened more than she liked to admit when she was truly upset. the blonde could easily qualify as needing anger management classes and it was a part of herself that she wanted to work on but completely sucked at, since her emotions were involved. shaking her hand, she reaches out and clasps her hand around his fist that had collided with the wall, squeezing it. “ky… i really don’t want to fight… i don’t… i know why this is hard for you and i’m – sorry that i’m not being more receptive to that right now.” she bites her lip, a tear slipping down her cheek. she can’t even fathom killing something before it had a chance, even if most considered that she only had some cells growing inside of her. “but don’t you see…? history doesn’t have to repeat itself. i know you don’t want this, but this – your solution – isn’t the only option.”

“it’s the only viable option,” he said bluntly. “more importantly, it’s a threat.” maybe not, but ky wasn’t willing to take that chance. not this time, but he would give her the benefit of the doubt. maybe the child would be kind… maybe it wouldn’t be as angry as he was. maybe he’d be a better person due to this. the only problem was he didn’t think it was possible. not really at least. ky wasn’t made that way. nor did he have the capability to truly care. he could try – sure, but really caring? he wasn’t capable of such a thing. all he had was his masks and he was losing whatever was left of his humanity by the day. “however,” a deep breath was taken in and let out slowly. “i’ll do my best to try to restrain whatever… comes of them.” meaning that ky was willing to let the child live, but only if he made sure whatever… abilities of the supernatural sort were either contained or eliminated.

“fathers are often that way. children are better off without them.” but he didn’t come to discuss the demon. “it’s not him i want to deal with anyway. i’ve heard good things about you as far as hell’s opinion goes. i need someone smart and powerful on my side here.”

“hell’s opinion changes every day of the week.” his arms folded across his chest with a sigh. “however, if you want my…assistance?” he bit his lower lip for a moment- giving a faint bow, but it only lasted a few seconds. “i’m willing to serve.”
