While in non-marvel settings ( spn / dc / whatever you wish / what i default to ) Ky uses vessels and is literarily black smoke when he’s not inside one, but he also has his true form that he can take on ( even while outside of a vessel  / body ). 

However, in Marvel / 616 settings ( ironically his old main verse ) he does not use them. His body ( that you see him in ) is his own – so is his true form. He may change his appearance at times, but it’s still his own body. up to and including his true form / spiky mini-blackheart version of himself
 otherwise known as his true form.

     “  and there’s no other witch you wanna talk to? just me? ”  sabrina caught herself into a mess she couldn’t dig herself out of. unless she permanently casts him away, she won’t ever be able to get rid of him. this is why her aunts are always on her ass about her spells. gods dammit,  “  you need to be specific.  ”
