“i think you’re forgetting who you’re talking to, caleb.” maybe he should have stopped while he was ahead, but thinking was never his strong suit. no, it was much easier to simply state everything bluntly. “i’ll do what i want… when i want and how i want.”
he should have silenced himself shortly after he spoke. of course, that would have meant he had restraint. for the most part, he didn’t. nor did he think it was ever needed. well, not really at least. not when he didn’t feel it to be important.
“how ‘bout you make me.” his words were meant to taunt her, but more to the point… to show he wasn’t going to stop.
it was for the best after-all. he wasn’t part of shield. nor did he ever wish to be. in-fact, he was on their watch lists due to the fact of what he had done, and would do again, and again. a simple fact that would always get him in trouble, but all the same, he didn’t think it was too important. not when he was trying to be better… at leas that’s what he told himself.
“you sure about that?” rather, he wanted to make sure it was what she really wanted before he did anything, “i could stay.”
when he had agreed to pose as grant ward even ky knew there would be risks. one of them was getting caught and another was actually doing too well of a job. fucking up was one of them as well, but he knew that wouldn’t happen. well, not as long as he kept his head down, and stuck to the plan. that was all he needed to do.
maybe he had lost his mind in a way. he had been taking far more risks than he ever had before and each one was more dangerous. this time, ky was starting to think that he could actually take over a planet. it was something so easy, but was also far beyond his reach.
however, the benefits of such an act would be just what he needed to finally get what he wanted, and that to tell all reality he was to be feared. yes, he had already pulled some stunts, but nothing as big as what he was planning. a reason to why he didn’t really care about thor’s words and dismissed them as nothing more than an assumption. an assumption that was actually truth.
“— and?” his number one flaw was that he never cared – be it about himself or others. he let everyone else do what they wanted. if there was something wrong or even pulled at them beneath their skin, relatable as it was, he made sure to show no interest in it. that way, he wouldn’t have to get involved. usually, it worked quite well, “i fail to see why it matters.”
he should have known better than to be even remotely decent. each time he attempted to in the past, he was given the same response; stop while you’re ahead. a reason to why he stopped caring most of the time. then again, there were always times he tried to be better… he just didn’t get very far.
it was the prime reason he take back several steps so to speak. that way, he didn’t have to explain himself anymore — it was hard enough attempting to be decent as it was. he still didn’t know how to explain himself. “never mind,” he finally said. “forget it.”
“and yet you could do so much more.” rather, he thought she could do more than simply hide. yes, he understood where she was coming from, but that didn’t mean he had to accept it. “or, you know, i could just blow up a building or… three.”
