“Does evil ever sleep?” Ky doubted it as he took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, “Look, I don’t need your help in this, and you can go fly off somewhere else. Just let me be.”
Of course she wanted to know the answer! Any damn paranormal, hunter, or even man with a bit of common sense in their brain knew not to touch her truck. Didn’t take a fucking genius to look at her and know there was hell to pay if so even a scratch was put in its frame.
“Well, I would at least like you to help me clean it up.”
“Or I can get some salt and holy water and make you remember why people don’t touch my things.”
“—- Kinky.”
Usually, he would have gone on some long-assed rant about how she didn’t matter. Instead, he just had it all resort down to one word. If she got her own personal kicks from throwing salt and holy water at his face? Who was he to judge.
“You thought wrong.” His words came out harsher than he thought, but all the same, he didn’t try to correct himself, “We don’t.”
well that was one hell of a disclaimer. either he’s some kind of serial killer or he’s like her, at least partially. she hadn’t met any other demons so it was hard to tell for sure but it made the most sense. the hell-hound recognized one of it’s own kind which didn’t make him a threat to her. she’s actually a little relieved about that. humans are a lot harder to talk to and it put his question in perspective. ❝it doesn’t get any easier when they’re immortal. if anything it’s a lot harder since once you know someone who’s around they have the power to destroy you and it’s your fault for putting it in their hands.❞
❝ true, but even immortals eventually fade away. ❞ at least in his experience,
❝ what i put in their hands is some form of trust —- i stick around for as long as i want and then leave. ❞ there was a shrug of the demon’s shoulders,
❝ i’m not good at sticking to one place…. never was. ❞
“I said I’m fine.” Jo stumbled forward but still shook her head when the other tried to assist her. “You shouldn’t be here.”
It was the only moment some of his humanity broke through. A false moment, a moment of actual caring for another human being, and it faded just as quickly as it arose. After-all, who was he to help another? It was an idiotic moment that shouldn’t have happened.
To that very reason, he moved to yank his hands back from her, and increase the distance between the both of them. “If you were fine, I wouldn’t be here, but suit yourself. I don’t care.”
“Of that, I have no doubt,” If Ky’lar had a real choice in the matter, he would have taken it upon himself to kill the other for pure spite. Fighting an Angel wasn’t easy, he learned that lesson already, and wasn’t going to have a repeat of it, “’Course, if I wanted to try something, I would have already taken my chances, and one of us wouldn’t be here anymore.”
The demon should have been paying more attention. Should have known that Marrick would have taken the chance the shove the blade right into his chest, and twist it.
It was only payback for their several fights and even Ky knew that much. Knew that eventually everything would come to a head again. This time, however, he was simply too late to stop it, and it was quite clear that he wasn’t ready for this either.
“Fuck… you.” It was the only words that could come out as he leaned against the back of the wall with a grunt, “Didn’t even hurt.” Though, the reality of the matter was it did hurt, but he wouldn’t admit that. At least… not to Marrick.
instead of ruining the fabric of her very expensive jacket, the siren bent down to rip a strip off of her victim’s shirt to wipe the evidence of blood that ran like a river down along the corner of her lip and to her chin. ‘ if you walk away, i just might let you live. ‘ an empty threat at that, but ryan never wanted to get mixed with those who boiled from down under – especially him. she heard the name ky’lar through the grapevines, and she didn’t want to cross paths with him.
’ —- and what happens if i decide to stay? ‘ he knew that if it came to a fight, she would possibly would be a threat, but he was willing to put his own money that nothing would happen. ‘ you wouldn’t want to miss out on another meal, would ya? ’ he may have been many things, but he knew fully well that most would have enjoyed a free meal. ‘ i have an offer. ‘
