Frank’s eyes CONNECTED with
the other’s and he remained quiet
for a moment.
               ❝YEAH. What’re you doin’
                                         around here, anyway
?❞

             ❝ BUSINESS. ❞

That was the simple answer
to the COMPLEX question
as to why, but also it would
SERVE for the time being.

                        ❝ Simply that.❞

whether he admits it or not, Ky had a point. not one he’d apologize for of course since he told him from the beginning that he wouldn’t follow anyone’s orders. those days were long gone and he’s still waiting for the day Ky’lar lost patience with him enough to stop trying for good. that meant going back to Hell but at this point he’s accepted it as inevitability. pissing him off is just killing time now. he should have known what the answer to his question would be but he hoped for a different one. ❝you know the definition of insanity, right? doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.❞ brows raise to make his point, implying Ky’lar lost his mind. that’s the only explanation that makes sense when anyone else would have gotten rid of him. ❝I hate it when you say that.❞ lie. he’d hated it the first couple of times but now he’s starting to like it.

❝ perhaps everyone is insane.  ❞ a simple statement that was more of a point of fact than anything else,

❝ you might not like what i do or how i treat you, but isn’t that the point of this? you’re a pet, a possession, and eventually, you’ll find your place. if you don’t? well, i’ll just simply send you back to where we all belong, an’ i’ll make sure you never get out. ❞ his lips pursed into a thin-line,

❝ not in this lifetime and possibly never again. you can be sure of that. ❞

❛ yeah, it’s never pretty. the humans… sometimes i like it better when they don’t come out of it for a few more seconds of life.  ❜ her death had been enough to weigh heavily on her mind, but the things she saw while hunting, especially involving demons were enough to nearly drive her crazy. it was downright disturbing watching the damage the demon’s time in the vessel had done in those last few minutes of life.

❛ how long did you have to stay in hell after you were exorcised? ❜

image

it wasn’t something he enjoyed talking about; his stays in hell we’re not as long as most, but they were still difficult. though, being what he was, it seemed that trouble always seemed to follow him. even more so these days since he kept upping the stakes each time he did something,

❛ depends honestly. longest stent was the first time and that was several years on earth time, but time in hell? it’s… different. at least when you’re going long term and simply not visiting. ❜

“It won’t happen with Jeremy. I’m sure he wants to come back. To meet his parents again and everything.” There was not much Joseph was as sure of as this. Jeremy would want to be alive, he’s not sure what happens once you die but Jeremy must hate being dead. “A chat and then you’re off? I get to live my life and Jeremy gets to be alive again. I don’t care that you have my soul. If I’m alive that doesn’t mean anything.”

“ I just need to stop by for a while —- no hidden fee’s or anything like that. I stop in, make sure everything is well, and that’s it. ‘Course, you’ll be alive a very long time if that mean’s anything.” It more than likely didn’t, but at the same Ky disliked having to collect souls himself —- open ended agreements were best. A reason to why he chose them more often than not as they got what they wanted and Ky got an IOU to use down the line.

“They aren’t so bad. I find them peaceful, but that’s me.” Ullr preferred the cold and dark. Not death, necessarily. But peace. “One of my best friends rules one such realm. It’s not as bad as people make out. But then again, most mortals are afraid of death.”

❝ most mortals are AFRAID of anything that bumps in the middle of the night or don’t SHARE the same beliefs as them. ❞ he knew that all too well and human history — at least what he knew of it – managed to show that far better than any words could express,

❝ it’s not as bad as most believe, but the one’s i’ve been to haven’t been nice. at least to my standards at any rate. ❞

The jaw drop on the former rosary’s face said it all. Out of all things for a stranger to say to her, this took the cake by far. She was a firm believer in God, maybe it was her former life or the belief stemmed from her owner’s, she wasn’t entirely sure, but it changed nothing. She may have been drinking at a bar but it was nonalcoholic, as she preferred not to partake in spirits. Her hand tightened around her drink as she kept her eyes on the wood of the counter, her knuckles verging on turning white with tension. “Yes. It would be too much.”

❝ depending on what god or gods you believe in, they can be killed, but then again, everything dies. ❞ or, that was what he believed at least; death always had a way of collecting whatever he wanted. it didn’t matter how old or how young. when the time came, there was always someone who needed to die —- didn’t matter who it was. it was all the same thing in the end; death took everyone… no matter the species or how much power they had.

the statement would’ve meant more if he didn’t already know what Ky’s definition of a reward is: being on his knees or being touched and called ‘good boy’. honestly that might be worse than the chains since he could get used to it——might even like it enough to behave. he’s weak when it comes to contact that once he’d adjusted to it, he’s gotten in the mindset of not wanting it to stop. he didn’t want to get used to being anyone’s slave. ❝it’d be nice if you would ask me for something other than being on my knees all the time so I guess we’re both disappointed.❞

❝ i’ll request something different when you prove that you’re worth it. ❞ oddly enough, there was a doubt that caleb would ever be. after-all, he was a toy; something to get rid off once it was broken or outlived it’s usefulness.  to some, it would have been considered worthless to attempt working with the other this long, but ky’lar enjoyed him, and that was all that mattered,

❝ then get in bed and stay there. ❞

she’s not stupid. not gullible either and she didn’t believe for a second he’s being honest with her. some situations you simply can’t win. sometimes there isn’t a good solution, just bad or worse. if he hasn’t dealt with it he’s lucky because he will one day and he’ll have to figure out how to handle it. she’s come across nothing but those that while she isn’t very good at conflict resolution, she’s not foolish enough to feign ignorance. ❝lying only works when they trust you — just because you haven’t hit that roadblock yet, it doesn’t mean you won’t.❞

❝ an’ you’re wrong. trust is important, but not exactly needed.❞ then again, most of the time ky took what little trust he had, and abused it. if anything, the demon made sure to take whatever he was given, and then throw it back ten times over in their face — a reason to why he seemed to never be able to hold onto anyone he cared about for long. he always ruined everything,

❝ i might not have hit it yet, but eventually…. i might. ❞
