“it usually takes a bit more than that to get arrested, in this country, at least.”
“well, i’m quite sure i’ll find out just what it takes while i’m here.” one way or another… just for his curiosity.. of course.
“whatever you need to tell yourself. – i mean, it’s understandable. a true spitfire. had she known anything about demons… i would have had a run for my money.” he had spent most of his time avoiding the winchester, but it was interesting to find jessica alive and avoiding him. much less in the company of a demon. “nearly had a heart attack when she saw me, though. guess she’s not quite over it.”
“she’s human. they just don’t get over things like that.” then again, there was a reason for the saying about hell hath no fury like a woman scorned or killed in a fire for that matter. “it doesn’t matter if it was yesterday or a thousand years from now.” then again, ky didn’t care – not really at any-rate. “had she known about demons? i doubt you’d be standing here right now.” or even ky for that matter, but that was besides the point.
“don’t think of it as excited – think of it more as i was bored an’ decided to drop in.” quite literally.
“that’s the reason, is it? cause if i didn’t know better i would say that you have feelings for the girl that you harbor away to sometimes do your bidding. and, like a fool, she seems to reciprocate them. good luck when the winchester finds out. he’s downright murderous when it comes to her. perhaps picked her a bit too well.”
“i don’t have feelings for her.” of course he did; he got attached to her he started to feel something more for jess than just her simply being a tool. maybe he should have kept his distance, but instead? here he was, lying just so he wouldn’t have to admit the harsh realty of things. “if the winchester wants her? he can have her… in pieces.”
“oh, i’m quite sure ‘bout that, but i still want to lay a few ground rules. if you go near her, i’ll personally make sure you never make it back top-side for quite a while. she may be a human, but she has a very large roll to play – one that i do hope you don’t fuck up.”
“maybe now that the war has petered out there will be less of my siblings around to ZAP THEM BACK to life every five minutes to ensure they meet their so-called DESTINY.”
“well, i know of ONE that would zap them back – more or less.” castiel would… at least that was from what ky knew of him. always someone BRINGING them back from the dead. it seemed to be CHEATING in all reality, but then again? ky was always the one who wanted END IT ALL. “always the one trailing behind in their ANTICS.”
“i would love it for her to be protected and safe… i’m her mother, after all.” somehow she found herself more hopeful that jess was alive and hiding from her rather than waiting up in heaven for years to come. then she would at least get to live. “it’s not that i am actively searching for her… i just… she has a distinctive mole – m-maybe i was seeing things, though.”
part of him wanted to tell the truth for once; actually admit he knew her. it would have been so easy. to actually help a mother meet their daughter again – to see her again. though, he wasn’t ready to simply give jess up, and let her go. maybe eventually he’d be ready, but for now? he wasn’t even going to think of it.
"you miss her,” he said, glancing to the ground.”you still look…see her when she isn’t there.” a pause. “it’s hard isn’t it? knowing all about a someone… even related to you, but they still are a mystery. sometimes… even to themselves.”
“that’s a fairly accurate assumption.”
“so, i’m right then? good to know.” among other things. “just means i can skip that little part.” not to mention save time. “’course, while everyone has a price – not too many people are willing to settle for one.”
“sounds nice. better than rags and backhanded slaps, not to mention table scraps.” he shook his head, forcing himself not to cringe at the memories. anything good from his childhood happened at school or at the library… definitely not around anyone from his family.
“to some it might have been.” however, to him ( what he could remember at least )it wasn’t. while his memory was in tatters ( sometimes more than the per-usual ) all he remembered that time was the scorn he usually received – especially when he started to mature. “to me? not so much.”
“GOOD LUCK with that. Even if they were both dead, my brother has grown quite FOND of them. Plus my father likes to let them have MORE FREE PASSES than any being I’ve ever known.”
“everything will run out EVENTUALLY.” well, more than likely, but ky wasn’t really going to BET on it. “they can’t get free passes for EVERYTHING.”
